How to submit assignments online
Assignments are submitted online with a web browser using
the following steps.
Step 1: zip your assignment directory
For assignment 1 this will be
assignment1
- If you are submitting an assignment from home you can use winzip
to zip your project directory.
- If you are submitting from the Windows XP lab use the built-in
zip (one way is to right click on your project directory,
choose "Send To" and choose "Compressed (zipped) folder:").
- From the Unix lab open an
xterm
window, navigate to the parent directory of your project directory,
and use the zip command
(see help on the submission menu).
For assignment 1 this will give you the file
assignment1.zip containing your programs.
Step 2: Go to the submission web site
Use your browser to go to the web site
www.submit.cs.laurentian.ca
Step 3: Log in
Your username and password are your
Novell username and password (same as for Webadvisor).
Step 4: Add the course COSC 1046
This step is done only once. After
that, every time you login, you see the list of courses that you've
added. When you select COSC 1046, you'll see the assignment. Clicking
on it will open a window showing the due date, mercy date (25% of mark
will be deducted) and the assignment url. You'll see also a
"browse" button that you use to browse your
account/computer for the location of your zip file containing your
solution of the assignment. Once the file is selected, click Upload and
the file will be sent to the marker. You will need to logout to
end your session.
Multiple Submissions
If you submit an assignment and want to submit a revised version
before the due date simply resubmit the new zip file and it will
replace the previous one.
It is not possible to submit an assignment after the due date and the
late penalty date.
